Tube Challenge Website - A Rethink?

Post by tubeguru »

Since not much is happening the world of tube challening at the moment I am considering simply removing all the content of this website and retaining this forum only.

The only other option I can think of at the moment is some kind of "blog" where updates I receive and/or hear of will be er, updated.

I'll be going through the stats of this site for the last 3 or 4 months and seeing which pages have been taking the hits. I'm guessing that most hits will have been for the forum and not for the other pages of the site.

Does the readership of this forum have any comments on that, bearing in mind that I reserve the right to ignore everything you say? :-)

I think that's a silly idea; the site should be kept. If it's not being updated that's hardly the fault of the site. I'd say the bombings had an effect on the lack of attempts this summer.

It would be better if there were more comprehensive best-times pages for all the alternative challenges too.

I know several people who check this site quite reguarly to see if anyone has attempted a new record.

I myself look on the other pages quite often too, they are very interresting, and indeed inspired me to try out the all lines challenege on Friday (although I beat no ones times, it was not bad for a 1st attempt).

So, I think the sit should stay as it is.

OK, so the opinion is that it stays.

Righto.

I know it needs updating with various things. Anyone who has attempted something and is not on the page, let me know. If you want yourself in the profile section too then just say so and I'll sort it out for you.

That would be excellent. I think there should be comprehensive profile pages for ALL the tube challengers!!

I certainly had a good look around the website when I first arrived; even if it's not getting all that many hits it's really useful for newbies.

If you can make http://www.tubechallenge.com the forum and have record pages leading off that Id be grateful- Like a locked forum section with record times for example?

Yes, that was my latest idea.

The rest of the bumf can be removed from the site really. It will then be easier to update the new system.

I shall start transferring times to a new section on the forum shortly. And yes, a few will be missing so if you're really annoyed cos you're not on the list then just tell me and I'll add it.

I wouldn't say I'm really annoyed but, in my opinion, purely for good records you should put everyone on the list.

Yeah, it's not as though there are ever more than about 3 attempts per week, so it's not going to be hard to update the lists. You could even appoint a moderator to do some of the updating if you're particularly busy (read: lazy)!
